Update from Uganda

Sorry not to be in touch before now, has been really busy here. Just wanted to say thank you again for the books you sent at the end of last year. We are planning to launch Soroti Bible School later this year and some of the books, particularly the Foundations of the Christian Faith, will be put to good use for our first planned progammes of teaching.

The church that I helped to plant here in 2004, Victory Outreach Church, had a Christmas Eve celebration and outreach event in the Orwadai area of Soroti, a very poor area of the town. We told the community that we would be giving them a small gift for Christmas and our pastor, James Ebitu, preached from Acts 3 v6, that what we have we give you. We then offered free books to members of the local community who had attended.

They were very pleased to receive this gift from the church. The two books that were particularly well received were ‘Wake Up & Live’ by Joseph Alleine and ‘Aspects of Holiness‘ by JC Ryle. Thank you again for sending these books.

We as a church will be developing our Bible study programmes later this year using some of the books you sent. I’m also talking to Bishop Sam, chairman of Soroti Pastors and Elders Fellowship, to discuss how best to distribute some of the other books to benefit other churches.

I’m back in the UK next week, landing on January 11 and returning here on January 25. Look forward to receiving the other books ‘What is the Gospel’ in due time.
